We are The Boss'd Up Step Company, founded in February 2022 as an outlet for youth and young adults to be able to express themselves in a positive manner, while learning to effectively deal with everyday life. We take the idea of 'moving like a boss' both figuratively and literally, and apply the principles given through step and dance to our everyday lives in order to be successful both on and off the dance floor.
We are an organization built to groom leaders, both on and off stage. Focusing on the dance genres of step, hip hop, and majorette, our program is geared toward providing avenues for artistic expression and creative freedom through dance genres representing a diversity of cultures and styles.

Choreographer
Hello! My name is Kemian Fry aka “Coach Kei". I am an educator in the greater Houston area, and a graduate of John Tyler High School in Tyler, Tx and The University of Texas at Tyler with a B.S. in Health Science Education. I am the owner/founder of the Boss'd Up Step Company, Head Coach of the Boss'd Up Step Team, and the director of The B.U. Academy of Step & Dance in Houston, Texas.
I am a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and am an international award winning choreographer & performer known for the dance genre of step & for creating "The S.L.A.B Blueprint", a written curriculum that teaches the dance style of step through the use of science terminology and mathematical principles.
I started my dance career at 8 years old, when I started training in the dance genres of hip hop and jazz. It wasn’t until I was in high school, at the age of 15, that I discovered stepping. I became a varsity cheerleader as a junior in high school, and spent 4 years as a competitive cheerleader and hip hop dancer, while continuing to train and perfect my technique in the art form of step.
I started my coaching career as a cheerleading coach in 2011, and transitioned over to coaching and choreographing for my first step team in 2013. Since then, I've been consistently teaching the dance styles of step and hip hop to youth and young adults ages 5-25, and I look forward to continuously sharing my passion of giving young people the ability to express themselves positively through step and dance.

Head Coach / Co-Director
Choreographer
Hi and kind regards! My name is Jaren Spears and I am a graduate of Tyler Legacy High School in Tyler, Tx. I am the lead choreographer for the Boss'd Up Step Company, Head Coach of the Boss's In Motion Majorette Dance Team, and the co-director of The B.U. Academy of Step & Dance in Houston, Texas.
With more than three years of competition step experience, a combined nine years of cheer, dance and step experience, more than five years of leadership experience, a World of Step International Grand Champion title, and countless other step and dance awards, my talents have won me awards both on and off the dance floor, and have pushed me to become a seasoned veteran in a number of different genres of dance.
I started stepping in 2016 when I was 11 years old, took on my first leadership position at 12 years old, and started choreographing in 2020. Becoming the co-director of the Boss'd Up Step company in 2022 allowed me to make a major change in my step and dance journey as I started coaching my first step squad. Since then, I've consistently taught the dance forms of step, majorette, jazz and hip hop to youth and young adults aged 5 to 25. I'm excited to continue sharing my enthusiasm for empowering young people to express themselves positively through step and dance!
